Jennifer and I met after receiving our first professional contracts at Dayton Ballet.  After dancing in several other companies in several cities across the country, going back to school, working in different careers and starting a family, our eldest daughter expressed interest in starting her own formal dance training.  We found a studio, called Rozann Zimmerman Ballet Center, and realizing that it was sorely in need of new direction, we bought the studio in 2008, rebranded it as California Dance Academy, and set about building the kind of dance environment we wanted – for not only our own three daughters, but for all those who might want to make dance a part of their lives.

We believe there is so much to be gained through the rigorous study of dance, and certainly not only for those aspiring to dance at a high level!  Developing discipline, artistry, grace under pressure, and more.  Yes, our oldest two daughters have gone on to become professional dancers; but more important than that, we want California Dance Academy to be something that simply adds beauty to the world.  If we can help our students and families find and experience the joy of studying dance, the pursuit of excellence and thrill of performing – truly Celebrating the Art of Dance – then we will be accomplishing what we set out to do.
